Helicopter crash claims lives in Lagos


 At around 12:17pm today at salvation road Opebi, Lagos, panic arose as a helicopter, which is allegedly owned by Quorum Aviation, has crashed into a building in the area.

 Meanwhile, the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) has confirmed that the helicopter, which was carrying three passengers, claimed two lives while one is in the intensive care unit at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

  26 soldiers were charged with criminal offenses, but only Lieutenant William Calley Jr., a platoon leader in C Company, was convicted on this day in 1969. In March 16th 1968, a war crime which is known recently as "the most shocking episode of the Vietnam War" and "one of the largest publicized massacres of civilians by U.S. forces in the 20th century", took place in two hamlets of Sơn Mỹ village in Quảng Ngãi Province. Perpetrators included the U.S. Army soldiers from Company C, 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment and Company B, 4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, 11th Brigade, 23rd (Americal) Infantry Division. The incident prompted global outrage when it became public knowledge in November 1969 as an estimated 347-504 lives were lost, including the lives of women children and infants. FG Announces Resumption Date for Universities,Poly Secondary and Primary Schools

The Federal Government on Thursday said September 21, 2020, has been set for the reopening of Tertiary Institutions, Primary and Secondary schools in the country. The federal government disclosed this in a statement by the Minister of Education Adamu Adamu at the end of this week’s federal Executive Council meeting. Adamu Adamu also said stakeholders were expected to continue to put protocols in place towards the reopening of schools according to the guidelines set by the Federal Ministry of Education. According to him, all schools in the country are set to resume in phases with effect from Monday, 21 September for a completion of first semester examinations for tertiary institutions and abridged third term of the 2019/2020 academic session for Primary and Secondary Schools.
