Netherlands beats Poland 1-0 in their UEFA Nations League Clash

Netherlands on Friday evening had seen a hard fought 1-0 win over Poland as their forward, Bergwijn tapped the ball home in the 61st minute after a characteristic sweeping move from the Netherlands, playing under interim coach Dwight Lodeweges in their League A Group 1 match.

Netherlands, runner's-up in last year's inaugural edition of the competition, were playing their first game since the departure of coach Ronald Koeman to Barcelona last month but kept up their crisp performances of the last two years. They used a 4-2-3-1 formation which saw Depay upfront as a lone striker.

Poland however, was missing their star striker Robert Lewandoski as he was given sometime off following Champions League success last month. His replacement, Krzysztof Piatek did force good saves out of Jasper Cillessen just past the half hour.

Poland used a 4-4-1-1 formation under their current coach Jerzy Józef Brzęczek who had played as a midfielder during his time.

The match however ends with Poland being able to secure 2 shots with just one on target against Netherlands who had 14 shots with 4 on target forcing Szczesny to make 3 saves.
